Color Crisis

All of the sudden I have been thrown into having to decide what color to paint the bedroom that had been damaged when the tree fell. I wasn't even thinking of color choices for that room, as I hadn't planned on painting and remodling that room until next spring, but Mother Nature had other plans. I have no idea what color I want. Today I went into Home Depot and looked at the color charts. I stood there and got cross eyed. Nothing popped out at me. HELP!!!!

I typically go with lighter colors because I just like them. And they leave me with a feeling of openness and peace.

When we remodeled our place, we went with all different colors. Dusty emerald in the kitchen, a warm yellow for the living areas, and a dusty peach for the master. We made a huge mistake leaving that same quality of color in the spare room (a dark blue).

My niece's room is a beautiful pink that goes lavender in the afternoon light. Really cool color without being overly girlie.

I guess my best advice to you would be to look around at what you've already done in the house and figure out what style you're using. Brights, dusty, muted, or dark colors, then go find something in that family that you like.

Also, if you already have linens that you are going to use in there you could pull a color from them.

As far as bedrooms go too, I guess you need to consider how comfortable you actually want it to be. I always heard that fuschia was a good color for a bedroom if you didn't want your guests to stay more than a couple of days. Apparently, it induces nausea in large quantities (like on walls).

Anyway, good luck to you. I don't envy you the task of picking out a color. It took us weeks to decide on a color for a teeny, tiny bathroom.

I have ruled out pink, lavender, and green. Other than that I have 1,000,000 more colors to choose from. Maybe it will hit me this weekend.

Hey I am really good at picking out paint, I got 4 cans I didn't use in the livingroom, I keep buying them rolling on some and end up with, NO WAY.

Might I suggest a nice butter yellow, it is calming and it goes with everything. Or I could send you the cans I got of, Misty Blue, Seamist Blue, Fog Blue and Midnight Purple. One color for each wall.

You are much better at this than I am Junie...I have faith in you.
