Yummy Treats

I went into work this morning and my first client walks in with 2 huge bags filled with dozen boxes of donuts. Seems that she stopped into the donut shop this morning, and they had made 3000 donuts for a fund raiser which they thought was today, and turns out is for Saturday. They needed to unload all of those donuts, and asked her if she wanted 200 dozen! WOW! She said there was no way she could take them, but would take a few. I think there were 12 dozen donuts in the bags she had. We started distributing them throughout the complex and each of us took home a box, and of course, we had donuts for breakfast. What a sweet treat!

Sunday Visits

Today started out kind of rainy, so I decided it would be a good day to clean the house. Things kind of sped up after my sis-in-law called and said they would be coming over. I am so thankful for people coming over. It's the only way I really get a good cleaning in. I shifted into hyper speed after the phone call to get all of what I wanted done before their arrival. They pulled up just as I was finishing up.

"S" brought fixings for cheese toasties and some wonderful vegetable soup. She even brought the butter to put on the bread. She must have thought I might not have any, so she brought all of the things required. I had loads of fresh fruit, so with what she brought and what I had, it was a wonderful lunch.

Afterwards, my brother helped me put the a/c in the upstairs window. It wasn't really heavy, but I didn't want to put it in the window alone, as I had visions of it dropping 2 stories because I would let go of the wrong thing at the wrong time. It didn't take long to put in, and one more thing to do for summer is crossed off my list.

We walked down to visit with middle brother and wife, and sat on the porch and enjoyed what turned out to be a nice day. It started off with rain, and clouds and ended up perfectly. The phone rang, and it was oldest brother wanting us all to come over for pizza, so after a nice visit, headed over there.

I love it when a day with no plans turns out to be a day filled with visits, and visiting, and good food, and laughter. I don't think it could have been a better day if it was planned.

Will Wonders Never Cease

Every now and then, something good happens. I was stopped at a traffic light, and along comes a car in the lane next to me, stereo booming so loudly that my car was shaking. I thought great, I'm going to have to sit here and hear that junk, when low and behold, as he stopped, he turned his music OFF! What a nice person! I wanted to yell over and thank him, but just about as soon as I had that thought, the light turned green. His car started to move, and as he picked up speed, the stereo came back on.

If only every kid out there was as considerate as this guy. Someone raised him right, and I know there is still hope for the future.

When I got home, and clicked on my link to post, blogger actually remembered my name and sent me directly to my posting site! A FIRST. I had been having to log on each and every time I wanted to post, or make a comment on other blogs.

I am a happy camper today!

The Shower

My niece and nephew are getting married less than a month apart, so our family threw a double shower for the brides to be. Aren't they adorable? I'm so proud!

Just a Suggestion

I got gas yesterday; the price went up 23 cents a gallon. I think gas stations should start putting boxes of kleenex out at the pumps so that everyone can wipe their tears and blow their noses as they pump their gas.

Weekly Update

I had a chance today to borrow a computer so I thought I would just give an update on the goings on here at the simple life. My computer is dead, and not repairable, so am waiting on my nephew to bring up the computer he had given me, but had a breakdown, and he is repairing it. Hopefully I will be back to writing soon.

On a very sad note, I took my dog, Lucy, in to be euthenized yesterday. I can't tell you how sad and lonely it is today. The house is so quiet and empty without her. It will take some time to get used to not having her around.

The weather has been just perfect this last week with sunshine and warm temperatures, so things are drying out in the yard and fields so things can be planted very soon. I am trying to figure out what to plant in the garden. So far I have green bean seeds and nothing else. If I don't start picking up some seeds and starts soon, it will be a pretty boring garden. I don't have too much in the way of flowers to plant this year as most of the perennials I have been planting in the past have really spread out and taken off and there isn't much room for anything else. Just a few flowers need to be planted around my trees and a couple here and there in other places for color and I'll be all set.

That's about all there is to report for now. Over and out.
