Stinky Bidness

Living in the country sometimes has it's down side. The other night when I got home from work, I smelled skunk when I got out of the car and headed into the house. I thought that someone must have hit one down the road and the wind was just right to take the odor to where I lived, and hoped it would be gone in the morning. No such luck. I still smelled it in the morning, and worse than that, I smelled it in the house. Could a skunk have opened my back door and sprayed and then shut it while I was asleep?

I went out to paint, and still noticed the strong scent, and so after a while it got to really bothering me and so I walked over to the other side of the house to see what I could find. Sure enough, NEXT to the house was a dead skunk. How it got there, I don't know but there it was. Of course I was just getting ready to leave for work, and couldn't bury it and thought first thing in the morning, that was the chore that had priority.

This morning, I got the shovel, and went out into the field, dug a hole, and then went to where I had found the skunk the day before. IT WAS GONE! I smelled it, strong as ever behind the house, and walked all over the place and no skunk. Now how hard can a fragrant dead skunk be to find? So hard, I gave up, put the shovel in the shed. I wasn't wanting to give up, because that thing was somewhere and it was going to annoy me, in more ways than the obvious, until I found it.

I started up to the house, and walked to the other steps of the back porch, and noticed something in the corner where it meets up with the house, and there is a big crack in the concrete, and.....OH MY GOODNESS; There it was, half in that crack. Something had tried to drag it in under my porch. I quickly buried it and then really started to worry.

What is now living under my porch that is big enough to drag a dead skunk under there for a meal.

I think I'll sit out after work tonight with my shotgun and flashlight.

Inenuity at it's Best

I went to lunch with a friend and this was in the parking lot. It got quite a few turned heads, and second looks. I have to hand it to the person; they sure did invent quite the vehicle. Hey, if it gets you to work and back and on the amount of fuel in that little yellow jug, go for it!

Pleasant Surprise

I have had a rough couple of days, and got off a little early tonight. When I got home, there was a message on my answering machine from my Aunt Betty. It said that she hoped I found the cookies she put in my gas grill this morning. YAY!! I ran out and sure enough, there was a plate of cookies wrapped tightly in plastic waiting for me to bring them in!

I know if she were to hand them to me, she would say that these cookies are from the same recipe that my great uncle baked in this very kitchen of mine. She always says that and I always nod and say gosh, how nice.

I already had a few and did they ever hit the spot. Sometimes it doesn't take much to make a person feel just a little bit better about things.

7 Random Things About Myself

I got tagged by Cedarflame to do this so here it goes.

1. I really think Cedar did this because she loves lists, and to see things numbered.

2. Even though I do a lot of things around the house, like painting, etc, I do it because I have to,
not because I want to.

3. I don't like being alone, and really do want to share my life with someone some day. Soon.

4. If I hear "I really like you...for a friend" one more time, I think I am going to puke.

5. I used to sell potato chips, and peddle grape jelly, and tuna and was good at it.

6. Most people think I am strong, confident, and independent, but really, I am insecure, very
sensitive, and get my feelings hurt very easily.

7. I am a classic car fan, and dream of someday owning a Duesenburg

Long Time, No Write

It's been so long since I have written anything on this blog, I almost forgot how to get to the post place, and now that I am here, don't know quite what to write. I haven't had much to say lately. I have been so busy with work, and work, and then when I am off, am working here at home. I have been trying to get the trim painted on the house before it gets too cold. This is one of those times I would like to have two of me; One to go to work, and one of me to stay home and get this stuff done.

I think things are catching up with me as today, while entering the back door of the salon, I felt a draft. I found one of the girls and asked her to take a look at my butt to see if there might be a hole. Sure enough, there was a hole the size of the Grand Canyon on the seat of my pants. Lordy, I was embarrassed. I had a spare pair of slacks at work, so changed, and all was good.

That's about all I have to say today. I will try to get back into the habit of writing.
